Diverse autism genes converge on shared brain protein networks, Science study finds

A Science study mapping brain protein interactions finds hundreds of diverse autism-linked mutations alter the same underlying biological networks. Co-author Nevan J. Krogan of UCSF said large-scale sequencing over 15 years raised implicated genes from a handful in 2012 to several hundred today. Tracing how mutations rewire these connections may guide targeted therapies for neurodevelopmental conditions.
