Tens of thousands attend right-wing protest over Ceuta migrant crisis

Right-wing demonstrators rallied in Madrid on Saturday over irregular migration and the handling of a late-July influx into Ceuta, at a protest organised by Sociedad Civil Espanola and backed by the PP and Vox. The government put turnout at 20,000; organisers claimed 180,000. More than 70,000 migrants entered Ceuta from Morocco at the end of July; most were returned but thousands remain. Protesters accused Pedro Sanchez of failing to protect Ceuta’s borders and called for an election by mid-November; Vox demanded treason charges. The July 30–31 surge killed dozens of migrants. Spain’s next general election is due in August 2027.
