Shell backs $23 billion LNG Canada expansion to double production capacity

Shell and its partners have approved a final investment decision to expand the LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia, doubling production capacity to roughly 28 million metric tons per annum. Backed by a 40% stake from Shell alongside Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corp, and Korea Gas Corp, the project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the early 2030s.
