White House bars journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico in move condemned as a 'ban on the free press'

The White House has barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico after US President Donald Trump accused the outlets of reporting "fake news" and announced the ban on Friday. Reporters were turned away on Saturday and had their press credentials deactivated or confiscated: MS NOW correspondent Akayla Gardner said an officer took her badge, calling the decision "above him", and Politico reporter Cheyenne Haslett was denied entry by the Secret Service, which seized her access pass. Trump has said other news organisations could also face bans.
