SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce to leave post on Oct. 2

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, known as “Crypto Mom,” resigned effective Oct. 2 after about eight years on the commission, including as director of the Crypto Task Force since Feb. 4, 2025. She posted her letter on X; her term expired in June 2025 though commissioners may serve up to roughly 18 months if not replaced. She is expected to join Regent University’s Virginia law school as an associate professor in November.
