Boeing flags 737 Max software glitch affecting some automated approach functions

Boeing said it flagged a software issue on some 737 Max jets that can affect automated vertical navigation after a missed approach when pilots change the preprogrammed path, requiring extra steps on later approaches. The FAA is assessing the problem, may act on safety grounds, and is reviewing Boeing’s fix; Boeing is preparing a software update. U.S. airlines told CNBC they have no Max 8 or 9 with the affected updated software and can revert some aircraft to older versions. Southwest said it is aware and engaged with Boeing and the FAA.
