Floods and landslides kill at least 56 in Uttar Pradesh and 12 in Nepal

Heavy rain has killed at least 56 people in Uttar Pradesh and 12 in Nepal as rivers rose above danger levels over three days. Relief commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod said Sunday the state recorded 66.5mm from Friday to Sunday morning against a normal 7.6mm; 46 were injured and more than 1,000 homes were damaged after a Bay of Bengal depression moved inland. In Odisha, more than 70,000 were evacuated from low-lying areas.
