Trump's Greenland deal, explained

Eight months after Donald Trump threatened to annex Greenland by force and impose 25% tariffs on countries that opposed him, he signed an Arctic and North Atlantic security agreement at the UN with the prime ministers of Greenland and Denmark. The deal amends a 1951 U.S.–Denmark treaty, still needs ratification by Danish and Greenlandic lawmakers, and ends a dispute that had alarmed European allies; experts say the older pact already gave the U.S. broad military access to the territory.
