The international REACT study found atherosclerotic plaques in 57.1% of more than 16,000 adults with no symptoms or prior cardiovascular diagnosis, including about one in 13 people aged 18–29. The findings were presented at ESC Congress 2026 and published in The New England Journal of Medicine.
