South African lawyer Navanethem “Navi” Pillay won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for promoting peace and international law. She defended anti-apartheid activists, helped establish rape as an act of genocide at the Rwanda tribunal, and served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014.
