Oil from the damaged tanker Gem No.2 spread more than 35km along the UAE coast by Wednesday, closing beaches and coastal areas near Umm Al Quwain. The vessel was struck on 9–10 October during a surge of Iranian attacks. Authorities began containment as experts warned of harm to marine wildlife.
