Legal immigrants face loss of Medicaid coverage in the United States

From Oct. 1, hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants, including refugees, trafficking victims and Afghan interpreters, risk losing Medicaid under a 2025 law cutting over $900 billion by 2034. Green-card holders are exempt; the CBO projects 100,000 more uninsured immigrants by 2034.
