An inquest found that neglect contributed to five-month-old Esta High’s death at Leeds General Infirmary in November 2023. Doctors attributed her fever of more than 40C and vomiting to Covid-19, delaying tests and antibiotics for the streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis that killed her.
