The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index fell 6.7 points to 81.9 in September, below the forecast of 89. The Present Situation Index dropped to 109.3 and the Expectations Index to 63.6, as concerns about prices, fuel costs, jobs and personal finances intensified.
