Rising global bond yields drove gold futures down 3.34% to $4,176.80 and silver futures down 5.1% to $61.52 per ounce on Monday. Mining stocks also fell before the US market opened, with Sibanye Stillwater losing 7.92%, Harmony Gold Mining 7.49% and Silvercorp Metals 7.13%.
