Pulse Oximeters Shifted from Overestimating to Underestimating Blood Oxygen
A five-year Johns Hopkins Hospital study found that pulse oximeters shifted from overestimating to underestimating blood oxygen across all patients at higher oxygen levels. The unexplained inaccuracies were greater among patients of color.
