U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by a seasonally adjusted 29,000 in September, well below the 84,000 forecast, while unemployment increased from 4.1% to 4.2%. August’s gain was revised to 133,000, and July’s estimate changed to a loss of 10,000 jobs, cutting the two-month total by 60,000.
