Volkswagen posted a €5.86 billion operating loss for July–September, its worst quarterly result since the 2015 Dieselgate scandal. One-off costs, chiefly a writedown of its Porsche stake, drove most of the loss as the carmaker faces weaker Chinese demand and rising competition.
