The Reserve Bank of India raised its repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.5%, its first increase in nearly four years, making loans costlier. It lifted its 2026–27 inflation forecast to 5.2% as oil traded above $100 a barrel, the rupee neared record lows and weather threatened prices.
