NASA and its partners agreed on contract actions intended to keep SR-1 Freedom on track for a 2028 launch. Sierra Lobo Inc. will provide the closed Brayton cycle system that converts reactor heat into electricity for the spacecraft’s deep-space nuclear electric propulsion demonstration.
