Torrential rain in Nepal’s Lumbini and Gandaki provinces from September 24–27 pushed the Gandak, or Narayani, to record levels in Nepal and India. Breached embankments flooded farmland and settlements across hundreds of kilometers, affecting hundreds of villages and displacing thousands.
