A Japanese study of 37 patients whose psychosis began after age 40 found nearly two-thirds had tau buildup and about one-third had Alzheimer’s-type amyloid. Half of those without amyloid showed other tau deposits, suggesting several neurodegenerative diseases may underlie late-onset psychosis.
