Eritrea severed diplomatic ties with Ethiopia after Addis Ababa ordered 10 Eritrean diplomats to leave within 48 hours and announced it would close its embassy in Asmara. Both governments accused the other of hostile acts as fighting involving Ethiopian federal forces intensified.
