A review led by Prof Peter Fonagy warns that England’s NHS cannot keep pace with rising demand for mental health, ADHD and autism care. Common mental disorders among 16- to 64-year-olds rose from 15.5% in 1993 to 22.6% in 2024. It urges needs-led access and tighter regulation of private clinics.
