Henri Kagan and Kenso Soai won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for explaining how reactions can favor one of two mirror-image molecules. Kagan showed in the 1980s how catalysts amplify slight asymmetry; Soai found in the 1990s that a one-handed product can catalyse its own formation.
