Christie’s is offering David Hockney’s Dog Painting 17, the first work from his 1994–95 Dog Series to reach auction and one of only six such paintings believed still in private hands. It shows his first dachshund, Stanley, asleep on a cushion; the estimate is £1.5m–£2.5m.
