Former President Joseph Kabila, who led the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2001 to 2019, has joined the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation. The coalition, which includes the Rwanda-backed M23 movement, aims to challenge Kinshasa by force and could widen the eastern conflict.
