Dutch architecture firm MVRDV wants to nudge visitors toward a more sustainable lifestyle with an artificial rock formation called Rotterdam ROCKS! in the city's harbour — the plan would cost €240 million, and critics have compared the look to something Shrek would throw up.

• Brilliant — it draws attention to sustainability
• Way too expensive, there are better uses for the money
