A worker at a research institute in Irkutsk died of plague (Yersinia pestis), and a second suspected case has surfaced. Russia called reports of the second case "fake information", while a WHO official requested more details from Moscow.
- Russia – I think the Western press is overreacting
- The WHO – if they're asking questions, there's probably a reason
- Neither – we simply don't have enough facts to judge
- Both could be right – it's more a communication problem than a factual one
